Privacy, in plain words

This page says what happens to the PDF you drop in, what we keep, and who helps us run the service. It is short because we keep very little.

Last updated 28 October 2026.

The short version

  • Your file is processed in memory and deleted after conversion.
  • Pages that need a second look may be sent to Google’s Gemini API. Under Google’s terms, data sent there can be retained for up to 55 days.
  • We do not use your uploads to train models.
  • Free needs no account.
  • There are no ads and no tracking scripts on this site.

What happens to your file

When you press Convert, your browser sends the PDF to a server function of this site, hosted on Cloudflare. It passes the file to our converter, which runs on Modal. The converter reads the text and sends the result back to your browser. Files are processed in memory and deleted after conversion.

Your browser then tidies that text into the note you see. When you switch app, use Copy formatted or download the file, that happens in your browser too and nothing is sent again.

The second look from Google

Some pages are hard to read: a faint scan, a table that does not line up, a formula. Pages that need a second look may be sent to Google’s Gemini API for a vision check. Under Google’s terms, data sent to the API can be retained for up to 55 days.

We do not use your uploads to train models, and we do not sell them or give them to anyone for advertising.

What we keep

  • A random identifier in your browser. It lives in your browser’s local storage and is sent with each conversion so the free allowance can be counted for your device. It is not linked to your name. Clear this site’s data in your browser to remove it.
  • Your last choice of app on the home page, also in local storage.
  • A page code, if you enter one. It is saved in your browser’s local storage and sent with each conversion, so we can check it and count the pages you use. We keep the number of pages left on the code. The Remove link next to the code box deletes it from your browser.
  • Ordinary technical logs. Like any host, Cloudflare and Modal keep technical records such as time, size, result and IP address, under their own terms. We pass your IP address to the converter so the free allowance is counted for you and not for everyone who shares your network.
  • If you subscribe: your email address and your subscription status, which we hold along with the payment provider.
  • If you email us: your message and your address.

Who helps us run it

ProviderWhat it does
ModalCompute. Runs the conversion that reads your PDF.
GoogleVision check. The Gemini API gives a second look at pages that need one.
CloudflareHosting, DNS and the server function that passes your file to the converter.
Payment providerTo be named here before we take the first payment.

The pages also load their fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees that your browser asked for them. If we switch on Cloudflare Web Analytics for simple visit counts, it will be the only analytics on the site.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to [email protected]. Because we keep very little, the answer is usually short.
